Born Helen Irene Edlund, to parents Charles and Mable Edlund of Batavia, Iowa. Irene's first marriage was to Elmer 'Pete' Stribling, June 12, 1937, producing a daughter and two sons. On June 21, 1952, Irene married Donald M. Stribling and had two more sons and a second daughter. Her husband, Don, preceded her in death December 7, 1998. On June 13, and 30, 2009, Irene's two eldest sons passed.
During her lifetime, Irene called Iowa, California, and Talent, Ore. her home. She had been active with school boards in both California and Oregon. Irene found great solace within the membership family of her local Talent Friends Church. On Monday morning, November 12, 2012, Irene passed peacefully from a series of mini strokes, in familiar surroundings, and knowing the companionship of her friends and family. She had been a very happy resident of Farmington Square, Radiant Memory Care Home, Medford for what was nearly two years.
The family's heartfelt thanks goes out to each of the loving and caring staff at Farmington Square; the Asante Hospice Medford team; Talent Friends Church, Pastor Syd Wyncoop; Pastor Paul Miller; and Irene's dearest friend, Marie Jackson, who was a constant support to Irene. Our family wishes to thank all who made her passing peaceful. We also want to extend our appreciation to Ms. Debbie Wolf, Funeral Director, of Abby Funeral Home in Medford, for the warm and professional courtesy given to Irene and family during these parting days. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a graveside blessing service in the spring of 2013, date to be announced.
