Children's book authorto attend signing Sunday

Local children's book author Phyllis Murillo will attend a signing of her works from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Village Books, 291 E. Barnett Road, Medford.

Murillo is the author of the "Justabear" series. She also makes her own teddy bears, which will be for sale along with copies of her books.

Santa Claus will attend the event from 1 to 2 p.m. for photos and to read " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas."


Ashland Railroad Museum holds talk on Golden Spike

ASHLAND — The Ashland Historic Railroad Museum will present a talk at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the Ashland library's Gresham Room on the 125th anniversary of Ashland's Golden Spike being driven in.

Ashland railroad historian Larry Mullaly will present the talk, "The Story of Ashland's Golden Spike Part 1: Oregon Builds the South."

In the talk, Mullaly will discuss the man responsible for the largest part of the Oregon rail line, Ben Holladay.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.


Lane closures planned on McAndrews, Biddle roads

Multiple lanes of traffic will be closed on McAndrews and Biddle roads from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today during right-of-way work.

The eastbound and westbound curb lanes on McAndrews Road will be closed, along with Biddle Road's southbound curb lane.

During the closure, Knife River Materials will be working in the right of way. Motorists using the those roads should plan for delays or consider alternate routes.
