The 2012 Providence Festival of Trees, held Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, grossed more than $487,100 for the Providence Palliative Care and Swindells Resource Center of Southern Oregon.

Providence Community Health Foundation Executive Director Jodi Barnard said the proceeds will be used for clinician training, community provider outreach and program staff support of Providence Palliative Care program, which provides comprehensive care for those living with a serious or chronic condition.

Barnard notes that $35,600 was raised during the auction's paddle call specifically to benefit Swindells Resource Center, which serves families of children with special needs. The resource center is located within Providence Medical Group-Medford Pediatrics.

The tree "Lorax," designed by Dr. Bruce Logan and his staff at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center of Oregon, was voted 2012 Festival Favorite. This is the same team that created last year's favorite, "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." The highest-selling tree this year was "Wreck the Halls," designed by Sharon Rajagopal, Vicky Arne and Debbie Anderson. The tree is now at the Lithia Springs Boys Home in Ashland, thanks to Doug Flow of Mid Rogue Independent Physician Association.
