  • From toys to toiletries, this multi-generational family could really use Santa's help.
The family consists of loving and dedicated grandparents who are raising two teenagers, two preschoolers and an infant.
Both teenagers have a mental health diagnosis. The preschoolers are recovering from abuse and neglect experienced in their previous home, say Head Start and Early Head Start staffers.
Grandfather is not employed at this time, but he is home taking care of the children.
Grandmother is attending a jobs-training program, hoping to help the family finances.
The family needs everything from detergent and paper products to personal toiletries. Walmart gift certificates for other household items would be greatly appreciated.
The grandparents would like to be able to give the children something this Christmas, but they are barely making ends meet. Their holiday wish list for the children includes size 29 x 32 jeans, a large-sized hoodie, and underwear and socks for the 13-year-old boy. He would also like a Lego set with Bionicle and Transformers.
The 12-year-old girl wears size 3 or 4 in junior/misses. She needs a pair of medium-size pajamas, and she'd like a set of fake nails and polish.
The 3-year-old boy loves Duplos building blocks and Transformers. He also needs size 5/6 preschool pajamas, and some underwear and socks.
The 2-year-old boy likes Hot Wheels, Transformers and anything from Finn McMissile or Cars.
The baby, a 5-month-old boy, needs a floor play mat and baby toys.
Both the 2-year-old and the baby need disposable diapers.

Editor's note: Light One Candle is an annual series sponsored by the Mail Tribune that focuses on an individual, group or agency that could use a helping hand during the holiday season. Once that need is filled, donations may be distributed to others in need.
