LA GRANDE — After hitting 13 3-pointers to lead No. 12 Southern Oregon to an upset of previously unbeaten No. 2 Eastern Oregon and an overtime win over College of Idaho, Kyle Tedder has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Meanwhile, the SOU men's basketball team has been named CCC Team of the Week.
Southern Oregon opened conference play with a 4-0 record for the first time since 2005 after picking up the weekend home victories. The Raiders improved to 11-3 overall with the 72-68 win over Eastern Oregon on Friday and the 100-93 overtime victory over College of Idaho on Saturday. Friday's win marked the second time this season that SOU has beaten a team ranked second in the NAIA.
Tedder led the way in both games for the Raiders, tallying a team-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting against Eastern Oregon and scoring the final five points for SOU in the last 20 seconds to hand the Mountaineers their first loss of the season. He followed that up on Saturday with 32 points while tying a school and personal record with nine 3-pointers to help SOU come back from a 10-point second-half deficit and earn the overtime victory.
For the weekend, Tedder averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 assists and three rebounds per game while shooting 16-of-26 overall — 13-of-19 from beyond the arc — and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Southern Oregon returns to action Friday, when the Raiders will take on Concordia in Portland in a 7:30 p.m. CCC matchup.
