Dan Ollis Stanfield, 79, of Talent, Ore., passed away Monday, December 17, 2012. He was born in Spencerville, Okla. February 10, 1933. After high school he joined the Army where he served in Germany during and after the Korean War. After an honorable discharge he returned to his home in Durant, Okla. where he met Caril Sue Favors and they were married December 23, 1955. Dan earned his master's degree in education and taught wood shop as well as arts and crafts at Alameda Junior High in Las Cruces, N.M. for 13 years and at Talent Middle School, Talent, Ore. for 23 years. Dan was an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman, photographer, and jokester.

He is survived by his wife, Caril; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Stanfield, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Danny's son, Jacob, of Bellingham, Wash.; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Shannon Stanfield, and their daughter, Katie Stanfield, of Talent; his daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and Larry Eck, and their sons, Zachary and Levi, of Roseburg, Ore.; his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Chris Gerschler, of Medford; and their son, Austin, of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by his sisters, Patsy Stanfield, of Talent and Billie June Fagin, of Central Point; his brother, Johnny Stanfield, of Sams Valley, Ore.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dan Bill and Belzoni Stanfield and by his siblings, Waymon Stanfield, Jimmy Stanfield, Emma Jo McCarty, Rita Jean Shelton, and Vicki Lynn Spaulding.

Dan made a friend of everyone he met, loved to tease and joke, and could turn anything he found into a work of art. He was much loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Neighborhood Church, 4777 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix, Ore. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
