  • The undefeated North Medford girls basketball team extended its hot start on Wednesday, beating McNary 59-50 in nonleague action at North Medford High to improve to 5-0.
    Senior post McKensey Peters turned in 15 points, 13 rebounds and four steals, sophomore wing Sydney Thomas scored 15 points and junior guard Joci Ellis chipped in 14 points while taking three charges for the Black Tornado, which led 31-23 at halftime.
    Thomas scored eight of her points in the first quarter as North raced out to a 19-11 lead.
    "We got off to a good start," North Medford head coach Tim Karrick said.
    After some sloppy play to start the second half, the Black Tornado led by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter and hung on.
    Sierra Randleman added six points against McNary (3-4).
