Medford Unitarian service notes solstice, full moon

The Medford Unitarian Universalists will meet for a program entitled "Celebrating the Sun and the Moon" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Masonic Temple, 975 N. Phoenix Road near Barnett Road. The program will celebrate that Sunday falls between the winter solstice and the 13th full moon of the year.

West Main Church of Christ will hold a candlelight devotional service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at 1701 W. Main St., Medford. Presbyterians plan Christmas Eve services

ASHLAND — First Presbyterian Church will have two Christmas Eve services. A family-friendly candlelight service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at the church at the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Walker Avenue. Child care will be available at the family-friendly service.

Mindfulness meditation class starts on Jan. 6

ASHLAND — A four-week mindfulness meditation class will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. Sundays starting Jan. 6 at the Mountain Meadows Clubhouse, 857 Mountain Meadows Drive.

Ashland Zen Center offers introduction to practice

ASHLAND — The Rev. Leslie Becknell Marx will lead a service titled "Going into the Darkness with Gratitude" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St. The service will acknowledge the passing of the winter solstice and the longest night of the year.

The fellowship will hold a Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24. The event will include carols, Christmas stories and a celebration of the universality of the Christmas story for those of different faiths.
