Celebrations of all sizes — and volumes — are set for New Year's Eve

Local venues will send 2012 out with a bang. There are plenty of parties to choose from so take your pick.

Medford

The Rocky-Tonk Saloon & Grill, 333 E. Main St., Medford: A shindig will feature county music by Billy Lund & Whiskey Weekend, a balloon drop with more than $1,000 in cash and prizes, as well as a Champagne toast. Line-dance lessons begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cover is $10, or $20.13 including dinner. Dinner reservations are required. Call 541-973-2887.

The Trophy Club, 812 S. Central Ave., Medford. One Wrong Step will play '90s classic rock at 7:30 p.m., and there will be Champagne at midnight. Call 541-772-4131.

Red Lion Hotel, 200 N. Riverside Ave., Medford: The hotel and its adjoining bar, Character's Lounge, will be a happening place this New Year's Eve. There will be a three-course, tri-tip and chicken buffet dinner from 7 to 9 p.m. followed by a dance party with party favors, classic rock music by Hot Gossip and a Champagne toast at midnight in the Grand Ballroom. The Rogue Suspects, accompanied by vocalist Bishop Mayfield, saxophonist Kent Heyward and others, will perform funk, jazz and rock 'n' roll at 9 p.m. in Character's. 4 Daughters Irish Pub, 126 W. Main St., Medford: Party favors, Champagne, live rock 'n' roll by Michael Sidon's band, Three, and giveaways, including a trip to Hawaii and three trips to Las Vegas, will be at 9 p.m. There is no cover. Call 541-779-4455.

Chadwick's Pub & Sports Bar, 2300 Biddle Road, Medford. Expect a confetti shower and a lot of noise at the pub. There will be classic rock by Ring of Trees, a Champagne toast and party favors galore (hats, horns, whistles, etc.). The party starts at 9 p.m. Cover is $10 per person, or $100 with dinner for two. Ashland

Gios Building, corner of Fourth and C streets, Ashland: The 18th annual interfaith celebration, featuring easy-to-learn dances, songs and sacred phrases, will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 to $10. Call 541-708-0681.

Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland: Jerry Attrick & The Pacemakers, featuring David and Gabe Young, Dennis Freese, Mike Fitch, Gary Wade, Peter Spring and Abby Young, will play contemporary and classic dance music at the sixth annual Multi-Generational Dance Party at 8 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Advance tickets cost $13, or $28 per family, and are available at Music Coop in Ashland. Tickets will cost $15, or $32 per family, at the door. Call 541-488-7716.

Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St.: Indubious, SYNRGY and Outpost will perform reggae-driven rock, funk and dance-hall music at the all-ages "Beginning of the New World Party," set for 8 p.m. There also will be performances by Shakti Lila and Flow Arts of Inity, food vendors, a beer garden, art exhibits by Mystic Lion and Brian Paul Smith and group rituals, led by Shamanatrix Missy Galore. Ras Danny will emcee. Tickets cost $20 in advance and are available at Music Coop in Ashland, Magic Man in Medford and Listen Here in Grants Pass. Jackson WellSprings, 2253 Highway 99 North, Ashland: Live "vivacious, peasant, folk music" by Ashland's Patchy Sanders and dance music by DJ Obadayo will be at 9 p.m. There also will be a midnight prayer for world peace. Alex's Plaza Restaurant and Bar, 35 N. Main St., Ashland: Guitarist Josh Fulero and keyboardist Dave Fleschner, on loan from Curtis Salgado, as well as Dave Melyan of The Insomniacs, will perform blues and dance music at 9 p.m. "Annoying" party favors will be available.
