  • Robert Warren Belanger, 81, of Jacksonville, Oregon, passed away November 29, 2012. Bob, as he was called by family and friends, was born in Glendale, California, lived most of his life in Southern California, and retired to Jacksonville in 1998. He was an outstanding athlete in track and field in high school and later became an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed his time backpacking and fishing in the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges with his family and friends.
    Bob served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy for four years as a hospital corpsman on the U.S.S. Consolation and U.S.S. Haven. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal.
    Upon leaving the service, Bob attended the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, then established a practice in Corona del Mar, California, and a later office in Anaheim, California. He also was engaged in pharmaceutical sales for E.R. Squibb & Sons, and other representative companies.
    Preceding him in death are his parents, Joseph and Mary Jo Belanger, and his brother, Gerald.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley; two sons, Bob and wife, Wendy, of Jacksonville and Bill and wife, Jane, of San Diego; his brother, Joseph, of Long Beach; and two grandchildren, Noah and Brooke.
    Bob loved his family and friends very much and always enjoyed sharing stories at get-togethers. He was a member of the Applegate Community Church.
    A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Applegate Community Church, 18960 N. Applegate Rd., Applegate, Oregon 97530
