ASHLAND — No. 12 Southern Oregon rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to gain a hard-fought 85-83 nonconference win over William Jessup, Wednesday night at Bob Riehm Arena.
Southern Oregon improves to 13-4 overall with the win, while William Jessup falls to 1-14 this season. The Raiders return to action Saturday, when they will travel to Klamath Falls to take on archrival Oregon Tech in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game at 7:30 p.m.
Eric Thompson led SOU with 24 points, while Kyle Tedder connected on 5 of 6 3-point attempts to add 17 points. David Sturner and Tim Weber each finished with 10 points apiece as the Raiders shot 55.4 percent (31 of 56) in the win.
Jordan Wilson finished with a game-high 28 points to go with 10 rebounds, going 12-for-19 in the game for the Warriors. Keenan Prince added 22, while Kevin Stanley finished with 15 points.
Southern Oregon used an 11-3 run down the stretch to take an eight-point lead with 2:10 to play, but William Jessup scored the next five points to make it 81-78 in the final minute. Tedder and Thompson made four free throws in the final minute, and the SOU defense prevented the Warriors from getting a shot off in the closing seconds to clinch the two-point victory.
