  • SALEM — Cascade Christian got a chance to stretch its legs Thursday and took full advantage in the opening boys basketball game of the Crusader New Year's Invitational at Salem Academy High.
The Challengers (6-2) applied relentless defensive pressure and filled the lanes to open a 21-10 first-quarter lead on Sheridan and then cruised to a 70-38 triumph at the eight-team tournament.
"We got a lot of steals in the first half and a lot of transition baskets and that kinda opened it up and allowed us to keep rotating in guys," said Cascade Christian head coach Brian Morse, who had 11 of his 13 players reach the scoring column.
David Sellers led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds, while point guard Alex Miller was a disruptive force to go with his 15 points for the Challengers.
