  • Bonnie Belle Johnston, 78, of Medford, Ore., passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at Casa Verde Foster Home due to complications of Parkinson's disease.
    Bonnie was born April 11, 1934, to Fred and Estella Nelson in Lusk, Wyo. She lived in Applegate, Ore. from the age of four until age 74. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1952. On June 14, 1952, in Applegate, Ore., she married Albert "Dee" Johnston at the Applegate Community Church.
    Bonnie worked as a beloved cook at the Applegate School from 1974 to 1996. She dearly loved cooking for the school children. She had many hobbies including cooking, cake decorating, flower arranging, gardening, music, collecting and refinishing antiques, reading her Bible, and spending time with family and friends.
    Bonnie's family and friends remember her as a very kind, loving, and generous person who dearly loved the Lord. She was a longtime member of the Applegate Community Church. She has gone home to be with the Lord and her loved ones who preceded her.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Dee" Johnston; her parents, Fred and Estella Nelson; and a sister, Annette Wooton.
    She is survived by her three children, Danny Johnston (Susan), of Medford, Ore., Bonny Sue Dorey (Bob), of White City, Ore., and Howard Johnston, of Medford, Ore.; three sisters, Lillian Coffeen, of Paradise, Calif., Elaine Brown and Charlotte Bohl, both of Medford, Ore.; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Lindy Johnston, Jason Lynch, and Deanna Bingham; seven great-grandchildren, Sadie, Olivia, Makaelyn, Tanyan, Oliver, Taylor, and Brandon; and many nieces and nephews.
    The family would like to thank Mary Ellen and the staff of Casa Verde Foster Home for taking such loving care of our mother.
    A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Applegate Community Church, 18960 N. Applegate Rd., Applegate, Ore. Private inurnment will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, Ore.
