Jeanne M. Meadors passed away December 16, 2012, in Central Point, Ore. She was born July 9, 1926, in Applegate, Ore. to Harry B. Brown and Helen C. Mee, both families being longtime residents of Applegate area.
Jeanne attended Applegate School, and upon graduation from Medford High School in 1944, moved to Richmond, Calif. to attend business college. Jeanne married Shuler (Boots) Meadors July 6, 1947, in Richmond, Calif., and returned to Applegate to begin a family. Work took them to other parts of Oregon and California, but they always returned to, and called, Applegate "home." They were active in the community with the Historical Society, the Applegate School, assisting in fundraising and construction of the Applegate Community Church, and the Jackson County Election Board. Jeanne worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and tax preparer. She was employed by Ross Lumber Company, COPCO (Pacific Power), among others. Upon retiring and moving to Medford, she volunteered at the Senior Center as a tax preparer.
Jeanne was a loving wife and mother, and had a very even and calm disposition. Her family, immediate and extended, was always her first priority. She enjoyed cooking and decorating her home and garden. She loved flowers and gardening, and was a member of the Applegate Valley Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Madeline C. Grizzell (Robert), of Central Point, Ore.; two sons, Gregory D. (Erin), of Lake Oswego, and Jon H., of Eagle Point; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shuler; and her brothers, Lee and Robert.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., January 12, 2013, at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
