Spartans salvage win in series with Flyers

Goalie Sean Buckley was flawless at the net for the Southern Oregon Spartans hockey team on Sunday.

Buckley guided the Spartans to a 3-0 triumph by stopping 31 of 31 shots, helping his squad salvage a win in its three-game series finale with Valencia at The RRRink.

Marcus Fred gave the Spartans (14-12) all it would need with a goal midway through the first period. Jeff Salzbrunn and Eligah Bordak each scored in the third period to pad Southern Oregon's lead. Bordak also had a pair of assists.

The Spartans had been outscored by the Flyers 11-5 in the first two games of the series.
