  • A Medford man was indicted last month on felony rape and sexual abuse charges for allegedly raping an acquaintance multiple times while she recovered from surgery, according to court records.
Kevin Patrick Thomas, 18, of Medford, has been charged with nine counts of first-degree rape and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse. Both are Measure 11 offenses. Court documents allege the incidents took place between Sept. 4 and Sept. 30 when he was helping care for her during her recovery. They allege that the 16-year-old victim did not consent and could not defend herself because she was recovering from surgery and under the influence of prescribed pain medication.
Thomas is held in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bail. He does not appear to have any prior criminal history in Jackson County, court records show.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department arrested Thomas Dec. 21. He has a pretrial conference scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in Jackson County Circuit Court, court records show.
Prosecutors and investigators declined to comment on the case as it is ongoing.
(Clarification: Details about the victim have been clarified to protect her and explain the details of the charges.)
