An alleged pharmacy robber was on the lam for less than five minutes Wednesday night before he was spotted and arrested by Medford police.
Pharmacy workers inside the Albertsons on North Ross Lane phoned police at 7:36 p.m. to report that a man walked in the store and gave them a note demanding money and drugs. The note also suggested the man was armed with a gun, Medford police said in a news release.
The suspect made off with two bottles of oxycodone, but no money.
Four minutes later a Medford detective spotted a person matching the suspect's description walking at West Main and Reager streets.
The detective confronted the man and found him to be in possession of the stolen drugs from the pharmacy.
He was later identified as 32-year-old Eli Richard Williams, a Medford-area transient.
Williams was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on two counts of second-degree robbery. He remained jailed late Wednesday on $2 million bail.
