Medford man dies in semi crash near Glendale

A 71-year-old Medford man died after crashing his commercial truck on Interstate 5 near Glendale this morning.

Oregon State Police are continuing their investigation into the fatal crash, which occurred at 11:40 a.m. near milepost 83 north of Glendale.

According to OSP, Bruce Merrill was driving a 2013 Freightliner north on the freeway when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the line into the southbound lanes, plowed through a ditch and struck a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass field office are looking into the cause of the crash. There was no roadway closure during the cleanup or investigation.
