SOU men falter late in loss to Northwest

ASHLAND — Ryan McIntosh scored 23 points, Michael Greene and Ryan Dornik added 22 points apiece and 22nd-ranked Northwest outscored 14th-ranked Southern Oregon 10-5 in the last four and a half minutes to beat the Raiders 82-73 in Cascade Conference men's basketball action Saturday at Bob Riehm Arena.

Greene hit 9 of 14 shots and added 10 rebounds and McIntosh added three steals and six boards for Northwest (17-4, 7-2), which trailed 68-63 after SOU's Kyle Tedder hit a free throw with 4:22 to go.

David Sturner had 15 points and six rebounds and Eric Thompson 15 points and five boards to lead the Raiders (15-5, 7-2), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Women's Basketball

SOUTHERN OREGON 89, NORTHWEST 80 — At Ashland, Melissa Sweat had 23 points and five rebounds, Alexi Smith had 14 points and 12 boards and Allison Gida added 18 points as the Raiders won the Cascade Conference affair.

The win improved the Raiders to 15-5 overall, 5-4 in league play. Northwest fell to 2-14 and 1-8.
