Oregon State Police on Sunday arrested an Eagle Point man suspected of shooting and killing three buck deer off Crowfoot Road in December 2012.

Robert Matthew Martin, 35, was arrested by OSP's Fish and Wildlife Division and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of taking deer during a closed season, unlawful possession of game mammal, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana. He was being held on $26,000 bail, jail records show.

OSP troopers served a search warrant at his home and recovered three buck deer heads, several weapons and 2 pounds of marijuana.

Martin's wife, 24-year-old Jessica Martin, was cited for taking deer during a closed season, waste of wildlife and a prohibited hunting method.

Police believe both were involved in the death of two four-point bucks found off Crowfoot Road near mileposts 1 and 3 and a two-point buck found injured in a nearby pasture. Troopers had to kill the injured deer, but the meat was salvaged for local food banks.
