Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, Sandra Wineman went home to be with the Lord January 11, 2013. Sandra was born in Medford, Oregon. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Marvin.
She worked at Scenic Junior High for many years and was mom to many, many students who would stop by her windows to chat or the many who went through her lunch line. Many of her kids still remember her being so loving, giving encouragement when it was so needed.
She grew up in Eagle Point where she met Marvin. After marrying in Central Point, Ore., she went abroad following him when he was deployed in the Army. Upon their return from Europe, they settled in Gold Beach, Ore. for six years before relocating to Central Point where they lived for 41 years. Upon retiring, they moved to Monmouth, Ore. to be closer to children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It was her desire to be as involved as possible in every aspect of her childrens, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives. She attended more softball games, basketball games, football games, track meets, swim meets, and volleyball games than we can count, and she loved every minute of it. Everybody loved going to Grammy's house; they made cookies, shopped at the dollar store, and played all kinds of games, because Grammy always made herself available for every little thing. She and Marvin enjoyed being snowbirds for years, making new friends and still keeping up with their many old friends.
Sandra is also survived by her mother, Evelyn Straus; her brother, Jack Straus; her three children, Greg Wineman (Lynette), of the Seattle area, Terri Wineman (Dick Figgins), of Snohomish, Wash., and Denise Wallace (Brock), of Monmouth; and 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Pat, Shanon, Zach, Amanda, Marielle, Lacie, Brock, Linzi, Branson, Jonathon, and Chloe; three great-grandchildren, Alan, Evelyn, and Maddison, (with another due in May); and three nephews, Rick, Dave, and Stephen.
She will be missed more than words can express.
Memorial service for Sandra is Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem, Oregon.
