C.W. Smith returns to radio with morning show

Former Jackson County Commissioner C.W. Smith will return to the airwaves next week with a new morning talk show, "Sunrise with C.W. and Craig."

The radio show will kick off from 6 to 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, on KCMX 880 AM.

The show's co-host, Craig Fronek, is a producer and host on Southern Oregon Live. That show will be replaced by "Sunrise."

Smith finished his second term as Jackson County Commissioner last year, voluntarily stepping down. Commissioner Doug Breidenthal has replaced him. Smith also served as Jackson County sheriff from 1983 to 1995.

Cheap pet vaccinations and nail trims Saturday

Jackson County Animal Care and Control will offer its monthly low-cost pet vaccination and nail-trimming clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix.

Vaccinations cost $10 each. Nail trimmings cost $5. Rabies and distemper/parvo booster shots are available for dogs, and rabies/distemper booster shots are available for cats.

Animals must be at least 8 weeks old. Pets that are ill, on antibiotics, on cortisone products or in heat cannot be vaccinated.

Dog licenses will be available for purchase.
