  • GRANTS PASS — Kaden Crandall sealed the Eagle Point wrestling team's 38-34 dual meet victory over Grants Pass with a 6-3 decision against Taner Carrick in the 145-pound match on Wednesday.
    The Eagles led by one point entering Crandall's bout, which was the last of the night in the nonconference match.
    Levi Pomeroy (126), Taylor Mitchell (138) and David Gonzalez (195) all earned pins for Eagle Point.
    In a marquee matchup at 160 pounds, Eagle Point's Hunter Hoeptner edged Grants Pass standout Kjell Thorsen, 8-6 in overtime.

    ROSEBURG SWEEPS — The Roseburg wrestling team picked up a 67-6 victory over South Medford and a 71-9 win over Ashland in dual action at South Medford High.
    South Medford freshman Anthony Neuenschwander pinned Roseburg's Mikel Ervin in 1:26 in their 113-pound match for the Panthers' lone victory. South's leading wrestler this season, Luis Ayala, suffered a 7-2 setback to sixth-ranked Toby Dill at 120.
    Ashland's Mason Montgomery pinned Roseburg's Jesse Webb in the second round of their 195-pound bout. At 220, Ashland's Cody Eisenberg topped Tyler Kailiuli, 7-5, for the Grizzlies' only other triumph.
    The Indians have won five of the last six Class 6A state championships.
