Elkton downs Rogue Valley Adventist at home

ELKTON — The Rogue Valley Adventist boys basketball squad ran into an Elkton team that was ready to pounce on any opportunity during nonconference action Monday night.

Once the Red Tail Hawks' Caleb Allen and Jonathan Alvarez ran into foul trouble, the Elks took advantage and snapped RVA's eight-game winning streak with a 68-58 victory at Elkton High School.

The Elks' Colton Maxwell amassed 27 points and Brandon Bowen contributed 17.

Allen, the Red Tail Hawks' leading scorer, picked up three early fouls and was limited well below his usual output with 12 points.

Micah Neufeld had an all-around solid performance with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for RVA (13-2) while Alvarez managed to score 13 points. Jonathan James added 11 points.

ELKTON 57, RV ADVENTIST 28 — At Elkton, Kendra Haugen led Rogue Valley Adventist with 10 points and six rebounds, but Elkton had three players score in double figures.

Carli Zamora logged eight rebounds and two steals for the Red Tail Hawks (4-13).

For the Elks, Hannah Whitley dropped in 12 points while Amy Parker and Savanah O'Brien added 10 points apiece.
