A Human Bean coffee kiosk south of Medford was robbed at gunpoint Monday night, and police say the incident could be linked to the robbery of a Bad Ass Coffee stand in Medford last week.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reported a man walked up to the drive-thru stand in the 3900 block of South Pacific Highway just before 8:50 p.m. Monday, pointed a gun at the lone female employee and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running toward Fern Valley Road.
"The description is very similar, (as are) the time in which it happened and the manner in which it happened," said sheriff's spokeswoman Andrea Carlson.
No one was hurt, police reported.
The suspect was described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and thin. He wore dark jeans, a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt and a mask.
Bad Ass Coffee, at 750 Crater Lake Ave., was robbed at about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Medford police reported a white man in his early 20s walked up to the drive-thru window, pointed a gun at the lone employee, a teenage girl, and demanded money. He was last seen running north on Crater Lake Avenue.
The man in the Bad Ass Coffee robbery was described as being between 5 feet 5 and 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing jeans and a black jacket or sweatshirt with the hood up. His face was covered.
"In our experience, when we have one particular type of business getting robbed in a short duration of time with the same suspect description, more likely than not it's the same suspect," said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau. "We believe that this person will probably continue to commit robberies, in particular coffee stands."
