To the people of the city of Medford, Oregon, and particularly to parents of minors.

Having been elected mayor through the courtesy of the citizens of Medford, Oregon, and having taken the oath of office, I now wish to state publicly that it is the intention of the administration to enforce all ordinances of the city of Medford, and at this time I call the attention of parents of minor children to that certain ordinance, being ordinance No. 110 of said city, which provides, among other things, between the first day of April and the first day of October after the hour of nine o'clock p.m. and between the first day of October and the first day of April, after the hour of eight o'clock p.m. it shall be unlawful for any person or persons under the age of eighteen years to congregate, loiter or be upon the streets of Medford, unless said minors shall be at such times accompanied by their parents or guardians or have the written permission of said parents or guardians. It is the intention of the administration from this time forth to enforce certain ordinances regulating the speed of automobiles, the liquor ordinances, health ordinances and other ordinances pertaining to the welfare of the citizens.

The administration asks the cooperation and support of the citizens in the enforcement of the laws of this city, and in the event that the citizens think that a certain ordinance should not be on the statute books, they should make known to the administration their beliefs in said matter, so that the same may be acted on the council if it should appear desirable, as it is the belief of the administration, that any ordinance which is not for the best interests of the city should be repealed, but until repealed it should be enforced.

Thanking the citizens of Medford in advance for their cooperation with the administration in the enforcement of the laws, I beg to remain,

Yours respectfully,

W.W. EIFERT, Mayor.
