Ore. man, 70, sentenced to prison for stabbing

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A 70-year-old Oregon man who stabbed a drunken acquaintance with a pocketknife has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

The News-Review of Roseburg reports that William Stanley of Days Creek pleaded no contest in Douglas County Circuit Court to unlawful use of a weapon and attempted first-degree assault.

Prosecutors say Stanley stabbed the 54-year-old victim during a dispute Nov. 19. Besides the prison time, Stanley might have to restitution for the man's ambulance ride and X-rays.
