  • The Southern Oregon chapter of an organization seeking gun-law reform in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting will march through Ashland on Saturday.
One Million Moms for Gun Control Southern Oregon Chapter march begins at 10 a.m. at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Marchers will walk to Lithia Park to demonstrate support for legislative action for reasonable gun control, organizers said. They said they invite everyone — moms and others — to participate.
Southern Oregon Chapter of One Million Moms for Gun Control has four objectives: to ban assault weapons and ammunition magazines of more than 10 rounds; to require background checks for all gun purchasers; to report the sale of large quantities of ammunition to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and to limit the scope of concealed weapons laws at the state level.
One Million Moms for Gun Control is a nonprofit national grassroots organization started by an Indiana woman after last month's school shooting in Connecticut. The group plans marches across the country on Saturday to coincide with a march in Washington, D.C.
