FOREST GROVE — With all but two of second-ranked Southern Oregon's starting lineup getting the night off, Pacific ended a 20-match losing streak to the Raiders by knocking off SOU 27-28 Thursday night at the Stoller Center.
The loss is only SOU's sixth all-time against Pacific to go against 50 wins for the Raiders.
The teams swapped forfeits in the first two matchups, with Pacific winning five of the eight contested matchups. Ryan Baxter took down Woong Kim with a 12-1 major decision victory in the 141 before Trinity Castner and Craig Trask picked up decision victories in the 149 and 157 to give SOU a 12-10 lead.
That would prove to be the Raiders' only advantage of the night, as Pacific won the next four matchups to claim the dual victory. Bruce Balcita put the Boxers on top for good 14-12 with a 12-2 major decision win over Reed Tennyson in the 165 and Michael Tyner knocked off T.J. Callaway 5-2 in the 174.
