Shirley Morton Chriss

Shirley M. Chriss, 84, longtime Medford resident, passed away January 22, 2013. She was born Shirley M. De Moss November 19, 1928, in Portland, Ore.

 

On May 27, 1949, in Medford, she married Raymond A. Morton, who preceded her in death. On June 24, 1982, in Winnemucca, Nev. she married Robert E. Chriss. He passed away in 2005.

 

Shirley was best known for helping others, whether through a kind word, lending a sympathetic ear, searching garage sales to find some item that a friend or neighbor could use, or sharing what she had with someone in need. To help pass on her legacy, we would ask her friends, family, and neighbors to do a random act of kindness, and then look up to the sky and say "This one is for you, Shirley". We know that would make her smile.


Survivors are two daughters, Joanne L. Joseph, of West Hills, Calif. and Janet L. Morton, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; three stepchildren, Robert R. Chriss, of Gresham, Ore., Edward A. Chriss, of Eugene, Ore. and Donna R. Chriss, of Medford; and two grandsons, Ian M. Kennedy and Dane Joseph.


No service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Providence Medford Medical Center. Interment at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
