Jackson County Recycling Partnership is accepting applications for its master recycler program.
The annual program teaches people about waste reduction and reuse, plastics and electronics recycling, the local solid waste infrastructure, avoiding hazardous waste, and composting. It also requires people to do community service projects that cut waste and share their new knowledge.
The annual training includes a handbook, discussion-based classes, presentations from local and regional experts, and field trips to Dry Creek landfill, composting facilities and the waste-to-energy plant.
Weekly classes will take place 5:30 — 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday, March 6 through May 22, at the Jackson County Expo Mace Building, with an orientation on Feb. 20. Class fees are $85 for individuals, $100 for nonprofits and $185 for businesses.
Applications are due Tuesday, Feb. 19, and are available online at www.jcmasterrecyclers.org. For more information, call Jackson County Recycling Partnership at 541-494-5488.
