Van Wagner Sr.
A memorial service for Gerald Walter Jerry Van Wagner will be conducted at Centerpoint Community Church, 515 Sunrise Ave., Roseville, Calif. 95661 Wednesday, February 6 at 1 pm.
Jerry, loving husband, father, and brother passed away at home with family around him January 30, 2013. Jerry was born November 3, 1931 in Bronx, N.Y., the only child of Walter and Grace Van Wagner. He was blessed with four half-brothers and -sisters. In 1953 he married the former Loretta Bartch of St. Joseph, Mo. They have five children, Carol Lynn Epp, Deborah Deas, Gerald (Jed) Van Wagner Jr., Penny Sue Ivanovich, and Scott Van Wagner. Among them are 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Jerry served in the United States Army for twenty years rising from Recruit to Major. He fought in Korea and Viet Nam. Among his many decorations were the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star for Valor. He was an active Mason for over 50 years, a strong supporter of Scouting, and he served on the Executive Board of three Scout Councils and as President of one. He was the Emergency Management Director for Webster County Missouri and a Fire Department Medical First Responder prior to becoming a volunteer with the Rocklin California Police Department. He was also a Rotarian for over 30 years and was very community minded. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
