You're not the only person to wonder what's rapidly rising between the mall and the new Northgate Centre to the west. The narrow peninsula of commercial property between Riverside Avenue and Court Street will soon be a Phones Plus Verizon Wireless store.
Batzer Construction broke ground in late November and expects to wrap up the $200,000 building, on a plot that once housed a Copeland Lumber yard, in mid-April, said Brett Smith of Batzer Construction.
The 2,483-square-foot store, at 1779 N. Riverside Ave., will be the sixth Phone Plus location in Oregon, joining outlets in Corvallis, Grants Pass, North Bend, Ontario and Roseburg.
Heavy on glass, the building will face south, with access from the north and south.
"We thought maybe traffic would be a challenge with in and out access," Smith said. "But it hasn't proved difficult at all."
