Cesar Chavez, Eagle Point boys basketball
The junior guard erupted for 30 points, helping the Eagles rally from an early deficit to defeat Ashland, 82-62, in the first Southern Oregon Hybrid meeting between the Class 5A rivals.
Kendra Haugen, Rogue Valley Adventist girls basketball
The senior post scored 22 points and knocked down the game-winning free throw with three seconds left in a 46-45 Mountain Valley League victory over Prospect.
Gus Simms, Ashland boys swimming
Senior Gus Simms sparked the Ashland boys to dominant victories in a three-way meet at Southern Oregon University.
He won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and was on three winning relay teams.
Troy Thompson, Cascade Christian boys basketball
The senior forward scored 18 points as the No. 5 Challengers defeated No. 7 Harrisburg 64-52 in nonconference play. Thompson knocked down all seven of his field goals and added seven rebounds.
Trent Wilson, North Medford wrestling
The sophomore was unseeded at 182 pounds but won his weight-class title in the 36-team Cottage Grove Invitational, helping North to fifth place. He had a pin the semis and beat the No. 2-ranked 3A wrestler in the finals.
