Hazel Marie Barry-McMenamy passed away Friday, November 30, 2012. She was born in Oroville, Calif. to Chester Ray and Marie Rose Barry. Hazel married Denis McMenamy in June 1954, after graduating from St. Mary's College of Nursing in San Francisco, Calif. Later she was a registered nurse in the Peace Corp. in Neah Bay, Wash.
They moved to Medford in 1968 where she worked as a RN for Mercy Flights Ambulance. She moved to Providence Hospital working in surgery and ICU. She finished her career as head of central supply at Providence Hospital.
Hazel had a serious accident in 1993, after she began a new life with Richard Jones. They did lots of traveling and spent their winters at the Fountain of Youth Spa in Niland, Calif., where she enjoyed swimming, seeing friends, park activities, and going to Christian women's Bible studies.
Survivors include her five daughters, Susan Watson, Nancy Rhea, Laura Fitzsimmons, Margaret Apenes, and Patricia Deaville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lin Adams and Cindy Bonar; and brother John Barry.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Rd., Central Point, Ore. February 9, 2013. There will be coffee and desserts following. Donations, if desired, may be made to Medical Teams International, P.O. Box 10, Portland, OR 97207.
