  • “The Magical Flame: Indian Use of Fire in Southwestern Oregon” is the topic of the next “Windows in Time” history series offered by Jackson County Library Services and the Southern Oregon Historical Society.
    Jeff LaLande, who worked for more than 30 years with the U.S. Forest Service as an archaeologist and historian, will discuss the ecological importance of Indian-set fires in past centuries at noon today at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave. His presentation then will be repeated at noon Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.
