Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 199 south of Cave Junction that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
OSP did not release the name of the 75-year-old man who died in the accident. In addition, a 65-year-old woman suffered critical injuries in the accident, OSP said in a news release.
OSP Sgt. Jeff Proulx reported that a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by the man was heading southbound on Highway 199 near milepost 37 when it failed to round a curve.
The pickup crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a tree, OSP said.
The man, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she remained late Wednesday in critical condition. It is not known if the woman was wearing a seat belt, OSP said.
