Donald Roy Elder

Donald was born April 6, 1926, on Court Street, in Medford, Ore. to Roy and Ella Elder. Donald was in the Army and served active duty in the South Pacific during WWII. He was employed at various lumber mills and retired from Double Dee Lumber, January 1989. He owned a farm in Sam's Valley from 1949 until 2011. He enjoyed camping, gardening, family, and his cats and dogs.

 

He married June Milton in 1954 and had two children, Karen and Doug, before June's death in 1971. On June 16, 1972, he married Susan Henderson who had two children, Mike and Kris, whom he later adopted.


Donald is survived by his wife, Susan Elder, of Medford; brother, Newton Elder, of Gold Hill; children, Karen Schloeman (Denni), of Corvallis, Doug Elder (Fe), of Grants Pass, Mike Henderson, of Medford, and Kris Vincent (Dave), of Eagle Point; grandchildren, Kimberly Ness (Peter), of Monmouth, Heidi Barclay (Steven), of Brookings, Keith Schloeman (Nicole), of Albany, Lindsey Trautman (David), of Central Point, Travis, Shane and Garrett Henderson, all of Medford, Aiko and Timothy Peckham, of Grants Pass; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ella Elder; and first wife, June Elder,


A memorial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Table Rock Bible Church, 10545 Table Rock Road, Central Point.
