  • Avik Bordak helped spark a comeback before netting the shootout goal that halted a four-game losing streak for the Southern Oregon Spartans amateur hockey team on Friday.
Bordak broke a 1-all tie in the shootout and goalie Sean Buckley denied the final four Salt Lake City Moose shooters to give the Spartans a 4-3 victory in the first of a three-game series at The RRRink.
Bordak knotted the score 2-all on a power play about four minutes into the third period for the Spartans (19-15-1), who fell behind the Moose 2-0 before Sebastian Romeo tallied midway through the second period on Bordak's assist.
The Spartans took a brief 3-2 lead on Kevin Edwards' goal but Cole Corson deadlocked the score back up at 3 for the Moose (10-20-1-3) with about five minutes left in regulation.
The Spartans' Petr Novak matched the Moose's Hank Parra's goal to open the shootout before Bordak and Buckley closed it out.
    Salt Lake City Moose 1 1 1 0 0 — 3
    Southern Oregon Spartans 0 1 2 0 1 — 4
