Spartans come back late to edge Moose

The Southern Oregon Spartans scored four goals in the third period, including two in the final four minutes to pull out a wild, 6-5 come-from-behind victory over the Salt Lake City Moose Saturday at The RRRink.

Down 5-4 after the Moose scored with a little more than four minutes left on the clock, the Spartans tied the game 19 seconds later on Dan Doyle's goal off a Petr Novak assist, then reclaimed the lead when Kevin Edwards scored with 1:37 to go in the game.

Mike Kowicki tallied three points — one goal and two assists — to pace the Spartans (20-15), while Edwards, Doyle, Alex O'Leary and Wilhelm Brodin added two points apiece.

Patrick Dwyer scored two goals to pace Salt Lake City (10-21), which scored three goals in a 10-minute span in the second to seize a 3-1 lead.
