Visit a new fire station

Ashland Fire-Rescue will hold the official opening of its new No. 2 station from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the corner of Ashland Street and Sherwood Avenue.

Tours and refreshments will be provided for free to visitors.

The station has been under construction for the past nine months after voters approved a $3 million bond in 2011.

The public art sculpture "Open Minded" by artist CJ Rench also will be dedicated at the ceremony. It was chosen from 14 submissions.
