Phone outage interrupts 911 service

Phone service is currently down for people north of White City.

A CenturyLink network outage is impacting telephone and 911 services for customers in Diamond Lake, Crater Lake, Prospect, Butte Falls, Shady Cove, and Eagle Point. Customers there cannot call outside of their exchange area or call 911, CenturyLink officials said in a news release this afternoon.

Cell phones are working normally. If residents in these areas have an emergency and need 911 services, they are instructed to use cell phones to call or drive to a local fire department.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has stationed deputies at fire stations in Shady Cove, Lake Creek, and Prospect so people with emergencies who can't call 911 can get help at the stations, officials said.
