Bryson Jones "B.J." Allman's Valentine's Day concert is aimed at singles, but couples will like it, too. The Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and actor will present original songs, along with music by Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and others, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at The Wild Goose Cafe & Bar, 2365 Ashland St., Ashland.

"About half my songs are about love lost or the inability to find it, and the rest are about how great it is when you do," Allman says.

Born and raised in Ashland, Allman returns once a year to play at The Wild Goose.

"The first time I ever performed live was nine years ago at The Wild Goose, and most of my musical heroes played at the open mic there regularly. So it's sort of my home base as a singer and songwriter," he says.

Allman plays guitar, piano and harmonica and, back in Hollywood, plays with the Bryson Jones Allman Band while he waits to make his big break in acting.

Shows at The Wild Goose are free. Call 541-488-4103.
