Edwards' two goals boost Southern Oregon

The Southern Oregon Spartans built a 5-2 lead through two periods and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Fresno Monsters in WSHL hockey at The RRRink Friday.

The Spartans are in second place in the Pacific Division with a 22-16-1. Fresno leads the Western Division with a 29-12-1 mark.

Southern Oregon got two goals from Kevin Edwards and one each from Marcus Fred, Joe Bordak and Sebastian Romeo.

Mike Kowicki had three assists for the Spartans and Romeo two assists.

Fresno outshot the Spartans, 40-26.

Southern Oregon was 1 of 8 on power plays, and Fresno was 1 of 6.
