Expect return of rain, snow

Following a weekend of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 50s to low 60s, rain and snow are headed back to the region, weather officials said.

The main impacts from the resulting storm system will be the southwest Oregon coast and Northern California, with up to 6 inches of snow possible on the west side mountains and Mount Shasta.

Snow levels are expected to drop to about 2,500 feet.

"The more significant snow will be down in Northern California," said National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Petrucelli.

Up to 4 inches of snow is expected to fall on Siskiyou Pass.

About two-tenths of an inch of rain was expected to fall overnight around the Rogue Valley. The NWS forecast for the remainder of the week calls for showers or rain every day through Sunday.
