Dispute over bike ends in stabbing

A dispute over a bicycle led to a stabbing Friday that landed one man in jail on felony assault charges and another man in the hospital, police said.

Medford police were called to Providence Medford Medical Center Friday afternoon to speak to Ladarrius Anderson, 23, who had been admitted there with multiple stab wounds to his arms and upper leg. He underwent surgery and survived, police said.

Investigators learned that Anderson had gotten into a fight with Lawrence Anthony Jackson, 45, over the ownership of a bicycle.

During the struggle, Jackson allegedly stabbed Anderson several times.

On Saturday, officers found Jackson walking in the area of West Fifth Avenue and Ivy Street. As the officers approached, Jackson took off running and was soon captured, but not until officers had used a Taser to subdue him.

Jackson was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and attempted first-degree assault. He was lodged on $2 million bail.
