  • Barbara Policastro passed away February 16, 2013 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. A remembrance reception will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
    Barbara was born in The Bronx, N.Y. June 17, 1936. She graduated from Evander Childs High School, then attended Hunter College for two years. She married Joseph R. Policastro November 2, 1957. She later completed her bachelor of arts degree at the College of New Rochelle.
    Besides a mother and homemaker, Barbara worked for Longines Symphonette. She was also a realtor for Century 21 in Westchester, N.Y. She was a member of the Medford Red Hat Ladies, League of Women's Voters, and Election Poll Chairman. In her youth Barbara enjoyed dancing, attending the theater, and spending time with her many friends. She loved to read and was an avid crossword puzzler. She also loved to spend time with her family. She was the best wife, mother, friend, and grandmother with whom anyone could ever be blessed.
    Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; and her two daughters, RoseAnn (Cattanach), husband, Duane of Eagle Point Ore., and Diane (Peterson), and husband, Petey of New Rochelle, N.Y. She took pride in the achievement of her grandchildren, Jennifer Stoker, Celeste Cattanach, Corey Cattanach, and Joshua Peterson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Caputo.
