Bernard P. Kelly, a longtime former resident of Medford, passed away quietly in his home in Olympia, Wash. February 14, 2013, after an extended illness with two of his children, Deirdre and Matthew, at his bedside.
Born in Medford in 1930, he grew up here and attended school and college in Oregon, graduating from the University of Oregon Law School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957, when he joined the law firm of Kelly and Kelly with his father, Edward Kelly, and sister, Noreen. He next formed a law firm with his longtime friend and partner, Bob Grant, until he moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1970, where he practiced law until recent years, gaining fame as a successful trial attorney. He was an inactive member of the Oregon and Alaska Bars, and was active in Oregon Trial Lawyers and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Popelka Kelly, and is survived by his children, Deirdre, Edward, Matthew, Marion, and Sarah; and grandchildren, Nora and Quinn.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church and burial will be at the Siskiyou Memorial Gardens.
