Carol Marie Granger Bennett was a vibrant, kind, and loving member of her family and community.

She was born September 24, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif. as the fourth child of six children. She passed away surrounded by her family February 18, 2013, in Ashland, Ore.

Carol loved life and loved sharing her joy, gratitude, compassion, and humor with everyone she met. She also shared her heart and home with many rescued animals over the years. Carol was a proud and dedicated member of AA for 23 years; AA was her second family, her rock, and her inspiration.

In Carol's youth, her parents, Reverend Lawrence and Marie Granger moved the family often in their ministries. As a teenager she spent many happy years living in Angels Camp, Calif. where she was a cheerleader at Bret Harte High School. After high school she went to Whittier College where she discovered that she was very talented in singing and acting. She became a well-known actress performing in small theater for many years, and continued acting while raising her two sons. Eventually she settled down in San Luis Obispo, Calif. where she was a guard at the California Men's Colony until she retired. After retirement, she moved to Ashland, Ore. where she enjoyed many years living close to family and friends.

Carol is survived by her sons, Ronald Lubin and Randy Lubin; granddaughter, Lindsay Thompson (Wes) with two great-grandsons; grandsons, Austin Lubin and Patrick Lubin; brothers, Ben Granger (Georgia) and Walter Granger; sister, Suzan Granger Malden (Marshall); nieces, Ann-Britt Malden and Andrea Malden; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marie Granger; brother, Larry Granger; and sister, Margaret Joy Granger.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Unitarian Church, 87 Fourth Street, Ashland, OR.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jackson County Humane Society. Arrangements by LitwillerSimonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland, Ore.
