Douglas McKee, 86, of Ashland, Ore., passed away Monday, February 18, 2013. He was born August 30, 1926 in Medford, Ore. to Floyd E. and Eva Beebe McKee. On May 15, 1948 he married Barbara Marie Maddox who survives. His family pioneered to the Applegate Valley and his great-uncle donated the land for the McKee Bridge.
Doug served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War as a radioman. His career was focused on construction and recently as a draftsman designing homes and commercial buildings.
Doug loved spending time with his beloved family, playing pinochle, and watching the Seattle Mariners. Survivors in addition to Barbara Marie include children; Marie (George) McKee Tiger, Medford; Douglas (Kathy) McKee Jr., Medford; Julie (Steve) Thomas, Central Point; and Dennis (Debbie) McKee, Medford. He had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Floyd and Eva McKee (parents), Joseph McKee (son), Florence Doss and Leah Ritchie (sisters).
Memorial contribution in lieu of flowers to The American Heart Association. Viewing will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 3-5 pm. The memorial will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25th. Arrangements are being made by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary.
